Kegon Falls in Nikko
Kegon Falls near mountain town of Nikko is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Japan (in fact it’s believed to be one of the 3 most spectacular waterfalls in Japan) and one of the most beautiful ones I’ve ever seen so I simply had to visit it and take a few photos. Especially as Nikko is just around 2 hours by train from Tokyo. From there it’s a bit less than an hour by bus to get to Kegon Falls.
Today I would like to share on of those images – it’s very tight crop of the waterfall, which is around 90 meters high. I also decided to use long exposure to create smooth water effect and make whole scene calmer. To produce this result it was sufficient to use exposure of 1 second. But despite using such “short” long exposure I still had to use 4-stop neutral density filter as I was taking this photo around 10 AM and there was plenty of light.
