Getting back on track

Getting back on track

This year was (in fact, it still is) pretty disappointing for me as far as blogging is concerned. First my blog disappeared from Google searches almost completely (in January I had several hundred visits just from Google search, now it’s about 10 – 50 a day!), then my motivation to blog started to drop what resulted in even further decrease of visitors. I also didn’t have that much time to take new photos as in the last 2 years what made my content of worse quality.
But I think I’m finally getting back on track. This week I managed to post a few new entries, including one tutorial about using Contrast Optimizer in Photomatix and another longer story about new HDRsoft’s plugin. I have some posts waiting to be published next week (and ideas for a few more). I also have a few pending changes to the blog layout that just needs to be plugged in. So yes, I hope my blog will come back to live and good shape in a few weeks to months from now. That’s my hope for 2015 🙂

Today I would like to share high dynamic range image I took last autumn in Tatra mountains. The conditions were prett difficult with strong wind blowing all the time what made it too risky to use tripod (I shot this holding my camera).

If you would like to create such images yourself, make sure to read my free HDR tutorial where I show how to do that. And if you would like to learn how to create such painterly effect, watch my video tutorial about creating such results.

My blog is not dead

My blog is not dead

If you’re regular visitor to my blog, you probably noticed that recently I don’t write as frequently as in the past. As I already stated in one of the previous posts I’m quite busy but should now have a bit more time and updates to this blog should be more frequently. So rest assured – this blog isn’t dead and I don’t indend to stop writing here.

In the coming weeks I should finally find time to finish a few tutorials (I have quite a lot of tutorials in the work in progress state) and tips so expect some exciting content really really soon.

Daily photo – Autumn reflection

Today I would like to share another HDR image from Royal Baths Park. This one shows one of the numerous ponds in the park. As I found water texture a little bit distractive I applied Topaz Simplify to it to make it look more ‘painterly’.

Daily photo – Autumn light

Today I would like to share one more autumn photo from last year (fortunately autumn is just around the corner so I hope to capture some nice images soon). Taken in Tatra mountains it features very warm light and some nice autumn colours.

250 subscribers on YouTube

250 subscribers on YouTube

Despite the fact I’m not very active on YouTube (yet, because I intend to increase my activity there in the next few weeks and months) I’ve just reached my very first milestone there, that is 250 subscribers. Of course it isn’t impressive, well it’s more funny than that, but even Rome wasn’t built in a day. So yeah, such things simply require time. And a lot of effort. Hopefully one day my channel will be much more popular 😉
You can view my YouTube videos here.

Daily photo – Park in London

Today I would like to share an HDR photo I took in one of the many parks I visited during my last visit in London (however, I cannot really remember which one was that… I should probably start logging GPS data when taking photos because I keep forgetting exact location pretty often). It was captured in the middle of the day (not very good!) but I still like it due to tranquility of that scene.

Winter wonderland

Posted in: hdr, landscape, mountains, painterly, Tatra|

Daily photo – Winter wonderland

It’s still very hot here in Warsaw so today I will post one more winter photo 🙂

This time I would like to share HDR photo from Tatra mountains, which I myself like very much. It was getting late and dark at the time I captured this image (well it was probably something like 3 PM but in Winter day is rather short here) so there wasn’t much natural light available and what was left had blue tint to it. Together with snow on the ground and trees it created very magical although cold scenery. I decided to “enhance” it by applying simple painterly processing to it.

You can learn more about my painterly processing from this simple tutorial.

Street in Montpellier

Daily photo – Street in Montpellier

I took below photo in the old town of Montpellier, France last year. I really enjoyed my stay there even though there aren’t as many photography opportunities there as in some larger cities.

To process this photo I used one of my free Lightroom vintage presets to give it antique and painterly look which really fits this scene in my opinion. It’s how I felt about this old town.

Mountain stream

Posted in: hdr, landscape, mountains, painterly, Tatra|

Daily photo – Mountain stream

Time for new HDR image from Tatra mountains. I took it last year in winter.

Apart from quite dramatic light and contrast, the thing I really like about this image are leading lines (both path and stream) which lead the eye through the image. If you would like to learn more about composing images, make sure to read my tutorial about it.

For this image I also used my painterly technique to get rid of some details and make the image cleaner. If you would like to learn more about this technique, watch this short video where I explain it.
