Sample HDR photos to play with

In this section I provide sample bracketed photos you can play with and create your own HDRs. It means that even if you don’t have any bracketed images yet you will be able to merge the images, tone-map/fuse them and post-process them – basically you’ll be able to see what’s HDR is about.

All images I provide are saved in TIFF or JPEG format. I don’t provide original RAW files because I want to protect my rights for these images.

Finally, make sure to revisit this section from time to time as I intend to add more images here in the future.

What can you do with the files?

There are just a few rules:

  • You can download and process the images in any way you like.
  • You can share the images on-line provided you give me credit in photo description in the following way:
“Source images copyright by Wojciech Toman: http://hdr-photographer.com/”
  • Commercial use of any type is not allowed
  • Removing or cropping out watermark (if it’s present in the source images) is not allowed

Anyway, have fun with the images.

If you make some nice creations be sure to drop me an email to:

Royal Palace in Madrid

This photo taken in Madrid is great example why HDR is needed. Huge difference in brightness between building and the sky made it impossible to capture all details in a single exposure. Besides this image is great for practicing deghosting as there are several people walking in the frame.

Sunset in Warsaw

This photo taken in Warsaw contains some amazing colors in the sky. Make sure to not over-saturate them – keep things natural.

Colorful sunset

This photo was taken by the lake in north-east Poland during very colorful sunset. Thanks to HDR I was able to save all those beautiful details in the clouds and water without making the rest of the image to look almost completely black.

Night over Giewont mountain

This photo, which is one of my favorite landscape photos, was taken in Tatra mountains in southern Poland. Night HDR photos are quite challenging because there might be some noise caused by the fact they are often taken with high ISO values.

Bamboo Forest

This photo was taken early in the morning in Bamboo Grove in Kyoto, Japan. Dynamic range was pretty big as whole place was quite dark apart from a few extremely bright light patches here and there.
